Aptiv Accelerates Robotics Expansion With Industry Partners

Deepens Collaboration with TARS and Shanghai Electric for Robotics Technology Integration and Application Into Manufacturing Operations

SHANGHAI, China - November 6, 2026 — Aptiv (NYSE: APTV), a global industrial technology company, signed separate strategic collaboration agreements with TARS and Shanghai Electric during the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE), expanding Aptiv’s presence in physical AI solutions for industrial applications. The partnerships bring robots into Aptiv’s manufacturing operations while integrating Aptiv products and technologies into new robotic platforms.

Real-world manufacturing environments are critical to the development and commercialization of physical AI technologies. Aptiv brings extensive manufacturing, engineering and production expertise to help validate and refine these technologies. Hundreds of robots from TARS and Shanghai Electric are being gradually deployed on Aptiv’s production lines, moving from initial validation toward scaled deployment.

Insights gained from production will support the continued development and refinement of robotic systems, helping them better adapt to complex industrial environments. These insights can also contribute to more efficient manufacturing processes and operations, while supporting the continued advancement of smart manufacturing.

Aptiv’s high-performance computing platforms and intelligent power distribution solutions will be among the first to be integrated into robots from both TARS and Shanghai Electric, with initial production planned by the end of this year. The computing platforms provide flexible, reliable compute for key functions such as perception, decision-making and motion control, while their scalable architecture supports various robot configurations and improves development efficiency and application portability.

“Automotive and industrial robotics serve different applications, but they share many of the same requirements for computing, safety, reliability and performance,” said Dr. Simon Yang, President of Aptiv China and Asia Pacific. “Aptiv brings technologies, engineering expertise and large-scale production experience proven in the automotive industry. We are applying these capabilities to robotics to help accelerate development, improve reliability and enable deployment at scale.”

Aptiv offers a broad portfolio for robotics, including perception, computing, software, power management and connectivity.  Together with its robotics partners, Aptiv is building a path from product development and engineering validation to scaled production and real-world applications.
